By nature, I am an introvert who loves to read, listen, question, think, and write. So I have found that blogging is a natural and delightful fit. I find myself constantly thinking of post ideas while doing housework or taking care of children; thinking about replies to comments and emails in my ‘free’ time; and researching ways to make the blog more entertaining, informative, and helpful, way past my bedtime.
I have found, however, that just as my early love of reading exasperated my parents and led to constant warnings to “get your nose out of that book!”, my new love of blogging pulls me away from attending to my existing relationships and responsibilities.
Having a flexible routine helps a lot, and so do tools like Net Nanny. Spiritual thirst warns me when I need to employ discipline. Reminding myself of the primary purpose of the blog helps when my human need for affirmation is being directed to the internet community.
Do you have a passion in life that you have to control in order to fulfill your responsibilities? What do you do to maintain balance?

I feel the same way about blogging. I think it is time for the Net Nanny over here. (As well as the other tools you mentioned, which I hope I use pretty regularly.)
