I first read this book following the birth of my second child, when I realised I was struggling with the behaviour of my eldest (who was 2.5 years at the time). I read the 101 pages within an hour, but it was a life-changing hour for my toddler and I.
Mel Hayde presents the many benefits of flexible routine for moms and toddlers in a beautifully positive way. The tone is encouraging from start to finish, and the book is packed full of practical examples of routines and activities which are useful both for well-seasoned mothers with larger families, and for those who are complete novices.
The book also includes a wonderful chapter of questions from real moms, which give valuable insight into how to apply the principles in the real world.
I highly recommend this book to any parent who wants some predictability in their life at home with a toddler or preschooler, or who needs a fresh approach to dealing with 'normal' toddler misbehaviour.
