What do you like about your home?

There are many 'features' of our home that I like now, after disliking them intensely for a number of years.

For example, our home is small by modern standards. When I first started entertaining family and friends, it was a shock to discover that our cosy dine-in kitchen was definitely a tight squeeze when guests were present. And once my eyes were opened, I started looking enviously at others' homes, planning renovations, researching styles in print and online, and endlessly day-dreaming about my dream home.

Nine years later, however, I have come to accept and even enjoy my home again. For example, I love the fact that I can vacuum the entire home in under 30 minutes, including stops to pick up clutter and kiss bumped heads.

Are there features of your home that you really love? Are there features that you have grown to like over the years? Are there some things that you just can't bring yourself to accept, and are longing for the day that you have the resources you need to change?

I'm with you on the cleaning! We live in a large house that has been converted to two apartments (an upper and lower). Even though I dream of the day we will have our own separate home, I often think about how much more cleaning that will mean. I do appreciate having a small area to clean while my children are still so young and needy.
The one thing I detest is having the climb up and down stairs just to get outside. It's different than having to climb stairs to get up to another level where your bedroom is. It makes taking the kids outside to play very difficult. If we want to bring any toys with us that equates to several different trips and I don't leave my kids outside alone so they are usually waiting at the door upstairs for me as I make the many trips. This is one reason we had to get rid of our dog too. It was too hard to let him out with the two girls.
Other than that I am happy and content here for now (most of the time)!

Oh yes, Liz, I totally get why that would be annoying!!! But hopefully once the kids are a little older they will be a little more independent and preparation for going outside will be quicker and easier for you. Is there another family in the other apartment? Do you socialise at all?

There are people who live below us. They are an older couple (I guess not THAT old, like 40's) but their kids are grown and don't live here. We will chat outside but not too much more than that. They give the girls a little gift at their birthdays and I bring them Christmas cookies ;)
