too funny! We are looking to buy a house and we definitely want chickens! A friend has them and they are so much darker in color and you can tell so much healthier than most at the stores-basically if you let them roam and eat what they should instead of corn and processed feed, it's much healthier for you. We are looking for acreage and allowing chickens is our unconditional requirement:) We're trying to go more organic so chickens and a garden (but I know we won't eat ours, haha)

Great! I hope you enjoy lots and lots of eggs!

Here's a couple of tips we've learned with roaming chickens:
1. make sure that they are roaming away from your house, because unfortunately, chicken p**p = flies (in summer)
2. make sure laying chickens get lots of protein in their diet - if not from feed, then they need bugs, lentils/grains, other high-protein foods - otherwise they will stop laying. There's lots of info on the web.

Enjoy!
